3. EYELID SURGERY - BEFORE SURGERY INSTRUCTIONS

INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE EYELID SURGERY

If You Are Having Surgery at a SURGERY CENTER, then:
ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT ON THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY!
NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

A PRESCRIPTION FOR AN ANTIBIOTIC EYE OINTMENT will be sent to your pharmacy one week before surgery. Please pick this up from the pharmacy prior to your surgery.

DAY OF SURGERY:
• Take a list of medications, insurance cards and photo ID with you to the surgery center.
• You may take your regular medications with a small sip of water as directed.
• Diabetic Patients: No Diabetic meds (oral or insulin) on the morning of surgery. Please bring your
medications with you to the surgery center.
• Please bathe/shower and wash your face before going to the surgery center.
• Wear warm, loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
• Leave valuables and jewelry at home.
• Do not wear make-up or nail polish.
• Have a responsible adult with you to receive discharge instructions and to drive you home after your surgery. You will be groggy and cannot drive immediately following the surgery.

A staff member at the surgery center will contact you 2 - 3 days prior to your surgery to obtain a medical history, discuss anesthesia, and finalize the arrival time for your surgery day. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH THE DATE OF YOUR SURGERY IS SCHEDULED, THE TIME OF YOUR SURGERY WILL NOT BE FINALIZED UNTIL A FEW DAYS BEFORE SURGERY.
