2. LID LESION EXCISION - AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

APPLY THE PRESCRIBED ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT 2-4 times a day on the affected eyelid for 1 week.
· It is best to use a clean finger to apply a thin layer of the ointment by gently dabbing the ointment onto the skin of the affected eyelid.
· If some of the ointment gets into the eye during the daytime, it is fine and will not harm the eye. However, if it gets in the eye, it will make the vision blurry for until it dissolves. If you want it to dissolve quicker, you can wash the eye out with an eye wash or artificial tears.
· If you wear contact lenses, please do NOT wear contact lenses while using the ointment as contact with ointment will ruin the contact lens. It is best to wear glasses for this next week while using the ointment or only apply the ointment at night time when the contact lenses are out.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE AFTER THE PROCEDURE:
· There may be bruising and swelling of the eyelid which usually resolves within 3-7 days.
· If there is bruising, apply a cold washcloth or ice pack to the affected eyelid for 5 minutes intermittently over the next 3 days.
· If there is active oozing of blood, please use a tissue or washcloth to apply pressure to the closed eyelid for 5 minutes to promote clotting and stop bleeding.
· If you have mild tenderness after the procedure, you can take Tylenol for pain relief.
· If a biopsy specimen was sent to the pathology lab, a staff member from the eye clinic will call you in about 1 week to inform you of the pathology results.
· If it has been more than 1 week since your lid lesion biopsy, please text or call us at 615-905-6797 or email Hello@TNeyelids.com
